“In the biggest languages, the voices sound nearly human.”

Lebanese Arabic is the Levantine speech of Beirut, Saida, Zahle and the mountain villages. It sits close to Syrian, yet small markers give it away, such as هيدا for this where Damascus says هاد. Many Lebanese also raise a final a towards e, so مدرسة sounds closer to madrase. Pick these voices for a restaurant promo, a festival spot or a clip for Lebanese listeners at home or abroad. Formal and pan-Arab content belongs in Standard Arabic.
Lebanon talks in three languages at once, and a greeting like hi, kifak, ça va is completely normal. Decide how much French and English your listeners really use. A Beirut nightlife ad can switch freely, while a message for older or village audiences should stay mostly Arabic. Keep French and English words in Latin letters, and play every mixed line.
Place names repay a quick check. Write them as the Lebanese do, such as جبيل for Byblos and صور for Tyre. Brand names and French words that come out oddly can be given a fixed reading in the pronunciation dictionary.

Only a little. Both are Levantine, and Beirut and Damascus understand each other easily. The differences sit in some vowels, a few pronouns and favourite words. Listeners still notice which one is speaking, so match the voice to your audience's city.
A large Lebanese diaspora lives in Brazil, Australia, Canada, France and West Africa, and many families keep the dialect at home. A Lebanese voice suits community radio and wedding invitations for them. Younger listeners raised abroad may prefer simpler, shorter sentences.
