Czech marks length with the čárka (á, é, í, ó, ú, ý) and softness with the háček (č, ř, š, ž, ě). The marks change words: byt is a flat and být is to be. Ů and ú sound the same, a long u, but the spelling still matters to readers. The voice cannot add a missing ř, so check any text that has lost its diacritics.

Stress always falls on the first syllable, and it is separate from vowel length, so a long vowel later in a word stays unstressed. A short preposition joins the next word and takes its stress, as in na hradě. Czech also declines foreign names and brands: s Microsoftem, na Instagramu. Write them as a Czech reader would, and set a tricky name in the pronunciation dictionary.

Decimals take a comma (2,5) and thousands a space (10 000). Ordinals carry a point, so 28. října is read as dvacátého osmého října; preview such dates, and Roman numerals such as Karel IV., which should sound like Karel Čtvrtý. V půl sedmé means half past six. Use vy for banks, offices and formal training, and ty for casual social clips.

Yes. The Free plan costs $0 and includes every voice, with a one-time allowance of 2,500 credits, about 2,500 words. It is for personal and evaluation use.

Yes. Czech has 1 male and 6 female voices. Use the gender filter above the voice list and try a few with your own first line.

Yes, on a paid plan: paid plans include commercial rights, and the Free plan is for personal and evaluation use only. Starter costs $5 for the first month, then $19 a month.

Preview the line first. If a number, date or abbreviation comes out wrong, write it the way it should be spoken, or add it to the pronunciation dictionary, which is on every plan. One entry fixes that word across the whole project.

You can, but the result is less reliable. Without háčky and čárky the voice has to guess whether you mean byt or být, or whether a vowel is long or short, and it will sometimes guess wrong. Type the full spelling, or run text from an old system through a spelling check, then preview a few lines before you use them.

Usually, yes. Czech and Slovak are close enough that most Slovaks follow Czech easily, and many grew up with Czech television and books. Still, an audience in Slovakia will notice it is not their language, and some everyday words differ. For adverts, training or customer messages aimed at Slovakia, use the Slovak page in the list above.
