“In the biggest languages, the voices sound nearly human.”

“…an impressive natural-like array of voices and great customer support.”

Swedish joins words into compounds, and writing them apart changes the meaning. En sjuksköterska is a nurse; en sjuk sköterska is a nurse who is ill. Language advisers call the mistake särskrivning, and a voice reads it exactly as written. Check compounds closely when your text was first drafted in English, where the parts stay separate.
Spoken Swedish has two word melodies that spelling never shows. Anden can be the duck or the spirit, and only the tone tells them apart. The sj sound has many spellings too: sju, skjorta, stjärna and sked all begin with it. Common words come out right, so spend your preview time on rare words, surnames and place names. Write a space between thousands, as in 12 500, and a comma for decimals.
English runs through Swedish media, and some loans have Swedish spellings, such as mejl and dejt. Decide whether your audience says mejl or e-post and keep one form. Preview brand names and English terms, and fix a stubborn one in the pronunciation dictionary.

Preview the line first. If a number, date or abbreviation comes out wrong, write it the way it should be spoken, or add it to the pronunciation dictionary, which is on every plan. One entry fixes that word across the whole project.
The voices speak Swedish as heard in Sweden. Finland Swedish uses the same written standard with some local words, but it sounds flatter, mostly without the two-tone word melody. For a campaign in Ostrobothnia or Åland, preview your script and ask a local listener.
Swedes often write dates year first, as in 2026-10-13, which is clear on screen but awkward to hear. For narration, write the date as people say it: den 13 oktober 2026. Times are usually written with a point, as in kl. 14.30, so preview them once.
