Decide what you want the accent to say. Outside the UK, many listeners hear a southern British voice as measured and authoritative, and it turns up often in wildlife documentaries, museum guides, audiobooks and watch adverts.
Write the script the way a Briton would: colour and programme; lift, flat and the bill rather than elevator, apartment and the check. Place names such as Leicester and Loughborough look nothing like they sound, so preview them and fix any that come out wrong in the pronunciation dictionary.
British narration usually runs calmer than American promo copy. Drop most exclamation marks and let understatement work: "not bad at all" often beats "amazing". With an Emotional voice, try the Calm or Serious preset for documentary lines.

Britain has dozens of accents, among them Cockney, Scouse, Geordie and Scottish, and no single voice covers them all. Play several samples on the cards above and pick the one closest to the sound you want. For a voice from Wales, see Welsh English.
Use it whenever British viewers will read the script, subtitles or on-screen text, where "color" and "center" look wrong. For the sound, preview words the two countries say differently: write "zed" for the letter Z, and check lieutenant before export.
