“In the biggest languages, the voices sound nearly human.”

“…an impressive natural-like array of voices and great customer support.”

Icelandic has letters English lacks, and each one matters. Þ sounds like th in thin and ð like th in this. The accent on á, é, í, ó, ú and ý marks a different vowel, not stress: á sounds close to ow, and é starts with a y sound. Writing a for á gives the voice another word. Stress always falls on the first syllable.
Numbers from one to four change with gender and case. Three women is þrjár konur, three men is þrír menn and three children is þrjú börn. A figure gives the voice no hint which form you mean, so write these numbers as words. Use a comma for decimals and a point after the day, as in 17. júní.
Iceland prefers its own words to borrowed ones. A computer is tölva and a phone is sími, and official texts use them. Most people have a patronymic, such as Guðrún Jónsdóttir, and are called by their first name even in formal settings. Preview foreign brand names and fix any that come out wrong in the pronunciation dictionary.

You can, but the voice will then read th and d as other sounds, so það turns into something no Icelander says. Add an Icelandic keyboard layout on your computer or phone. It puts þ, ð and æ on their own keys and gives the accented vowels a dead key.
They read modern Icelandic, and the sagas are close enough that Icelanders read them in school. Use an edition in modern spelling, which most popular editions are, rather than a scholarly text in older spelling. Preview old words and verses.
