Spelling and sound drift apart in Nepali. श, ष and स are all said much like s, and व at the start of a word is often said as b, which is why विकास sounds like bikas. Keep the standard spelling rather than writing words the way they sound, and preview names. End each sentence with a danda (।), as printed Nepali does.

Nepali changes its verbs with the level of respect. तँ is for very close friends or children, तिमी for equals, तपाईं for polite address, and हजुर for the most respect. Ads and public notices normally use तपाईं with forms such as गर्नुहोस्. Keep one level through the whole script, because a sudden switch is easy to hear and sounds careless.

Nepali newspapers often print numbers in Devanagari digits such as १, २ and ३, while many people type English digits. Pick one form for a script and preview it. Dates need more care, because Nepal officially uses the Bikram Sambat calendar, which runs about 56 to 57 years ahead of the Gregorian one. Write विक्रम संवत् or ईस्वी संवत् in full when a year could be read either way, and set any tricky name in the pronunciation dictionary.

Yes. The Free plan costs $0 and includes every voice, with a one-time allowance of 2,500 credits, about 2,500 words. It is for personal and evaluation use.

Yes. Nepali has 1 male and 1 female voices. Use the gender filter above the voice list and try a few with your own first line.

Yes, on a paid plan: paid plans include commercial rights, and the Free plan is for personal and evaluation use only. Starter costs $5 for the first month, then $19 a month.

Preview the line first. If a number, date or abbreviation comes out wrong, write it the way it should be spoken, or add it to the pronunciation dictionary, which is on every plan. One entry fixes that word across the whole project.

No. Both use Devanagari, and many words look alike, but the grammar and everyday words differ. Nepali says म जान्छु for I go, where Hindi says मैं जाता हूँ. Hindi pronunciation on a Nepali script sounds foreign to Nepali listeners, so choose a Nepali voice and write the script in standard Nepali rather than mixing in Hindi forms.

Romanised Nepali, as in chat messages like k cha khabar, has no standard spelling, so convert it to Devanagari first. A phonetic Unicode keyboard turns Roman typing into Devanagari as you go. Check the result before you press Play, because one Roman spelling can map to more than one Devanagari form, and the wrong vowel sign changes the word.
