Honduran Spanish is the voice of Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and the north coast. Choose it for messages Hondurans should hear as their own: a ferry or bus announcement, a cooperative's training video, a radio spot for a pulpería, or a clip for Honduran families in New Orleans and Houston.

Many Honduran names have Lenca or Nahuatl roots, such as Tegucigalpa, Ocotepeque and Choluteca. Keep the diaeresis in Comayagüela, because without it the gu is read as a hard g. People shorten the capital to Tegus, so match the register: Tegucigalpa for news, Tegus for a casual spot. If a name comes out wrong, set it in the pronunciation dictionary.

Vos is everyday speech between friends, as in vos sabés, while usted covers elders, customers and many family ties. For a brand, usted is the safe choice. Slang carries the accent: cheque for okay, alero for a close friend and ¡qué macizo! for great. Maje is casual among friends and can sound rude from a company, so keep it out of ads.

Preview the line first. If a number, date or abbreviation comes out wrong, write it the way it should be spoken, or add it to the pronunciation dictionary, which is on every plan. One entry fixes that word across the whole project.

Very close. Both use vos and share much everyday vocabulary. The difference is mostly in slang and local references. Baleadas, the Feria Juniana in San Pedro Sula or the word catracho tell a listener the voice is Honduran. Use the page for the country you are speaking to.

Often both. On the Bay Islands many families speak an English creole at home, and visitors from cruise ships expect English. A ferry or tour script can run in Spanish first and English second, with the English part made in an English voice.
