Mongolian Cyrillic adds two letters to the Russian alphabet, Ө and Ү, and they are not optional. Ус is water and үс is hair, so a keyboard that turns Ү into У changes the word. Long vowels are written double: ул is the sole of a shoe and уул is a mountain. Preview any line with long vowels.

Choose та or чи before you write. Та is polite and right for customers, elders and public announcements. Чи is for friends and family. Many Russian loanwords, such as машин and компьютер, are part of everyday Mongolian, while English brand names are newer. Preview those words, and add any that are read the wrong way to the pronunciation dictionary.

Months in Mongolian are named by number, so the tenth month is аравдугаар сар. Dates usually run year, month, day. Write the month in words when you want it read one way. In Mongolia people write in Cyrillic, while the traditional vertical script is standard in Inner Mongolia in China and is also taught in Mongolian schools.

Preview the line first. If a number, date or abbreviation comes out wrong, write it the way it should be spoken, or add it to the pronunciation dictionary, which is on every plan. One entry fixes that word across the whole project.

Write the voice script in Cyrillic, the alphabet used in Mongolia. The traditional script, written in vertical columns, is standard in Inner Mongolia in China and is taught in Mongolia, but it is a separate writing system. For listeners in Inner Mongolia, ask a native speaker to check the wording, since some words and sounds differ.

Give the year first, then the month, then the day, as in 2026 оны 10 дугаар сарын 13. Months are numbered: the first is нэгдүгээр сар and the twelfth арван хоёрдугаар сар. If a date in figures is read oddly, spell the month out or add the form you want to the pronunciation dictionary[[C067]].
